Washing the dishes manually is not an easy task; it demands time and commitment from the person performing it. Most commonly, people tend to neglect cleaning the dishes on the same day. This makes cleaning, although more, hard and time-consuming. However, with the introduction of a dishwasher, this trend is changing slowly. As dishwashers cleans dishes without any human labour, the task is less hectic and stressful. Today people with a dishwasher tend to clean the dishes on the same day, as the task is, as simple as, loading the dishes and selecting the right program. Apart from these, a dishwasher offers the following advantages. On the other hand, a dishwasher also has some disadvantages.

Advantages of using a dishwasher –

A dishwasher is designed in such a way that it can clean all your dishes with the least time. This is one of the main reasons; the demand for dishwashers has increased in the past years. As already mentioned in the introduction, cleaning the dishes is one of the most stressful tasks in the kitchen. However, if you manage to purchase best dishwasher from the market today, then, you can cut short the cleaning task to 90%. All that remains for you to do is simply load the dishes in the dishwasher and select an appropriate pre-set program. 

  • Saves water –

One of the biggest disadvantages of manual dishwashing is that it requires plenty of water to perform the task successfully. However, manual washing, even today is one of the common methods of cleaning dishes for the majority of people around the world. As of today, several experts warn that the availability of water will be an issue in the coming years. This is one of the main reasons; people are switching to other cleaning methods. A dishwasher when compared to manual dishwashing demands only less water. In the beginning, dishwashers were not as efficient as the ones today. Nevertheless, if you compare the dishwashers from year ‘90s with the one we have today, you will find that today’s dishwashers use 30% less water.

One of the best things about the dishwasher is that there are different types of products available and each type of dishwasher could come with different features. The features incorporated into each type of dishwasher could make the product more efficient. When it comes to hygiene, it is very important that you know, the most hygienic way to clean the dishes is to use the right quantity of soap and hot water. A dishwasher does both of these, yes, the dishwashers available on the market today have sensors that identify, how soiled the dishes are, and then boil the water and use the right amount of soap and hot water to clean the loaded dishes.

As already mentioned more than once, there are different types of dishwashers available on the market today. Each type of dishwasher is designed in such a way that it has a different external appearance and has different features incorporated into it. Portable and countertop dishwashers are the easiest to use, as they are compact, sleek and come with easy to use features. This does not mean that other types of dishwashers are not easy to use. However, other types of dishwashers are comparatively large and have extra features incorporated into it. Nevertheless, the difference in ease of use between all types of dishwashers is negligible.

Disadvantages of using a dishwasher –

While all the dishwashers available on the market serve the common purpose of cleaning the dishes, they come with disadvantages too. 

  • One of the biggest disadvantages of a dishwasher is that if you overload the dishwasher, there is a very high chance that the cleaning efficiency decreases or the dishwasher malfunctions. Yes, it is true, if you load the appliance with more than capacity, then the cleaning efficiency will decrease exponentially and the entire cleaning cycle can prove worthless and waste of time.
  • While manual dishwashing means you can clean the dishes whenever you like, a dishwasher differs. A dishwasher as you know works on electricity and using a dishwasher 3 or 4 times a day to clean the dishes might add considerable rates to your electricity bill. Today there are dishwashers that consume only less electricity; however, when compared to manual cleaning, this electricity consumption is not negligible. On the other hand, a dishwasher is useless if there is no power supply.
  • Not all dishes can be cleaned using a dishwasher if the dishes have a complicated shape, then the cleaning cannot be done in the dishwasher.
